Job Summary

 
 
Our premier destination marketing solutions power 1,000 destinations across the globe, including small towns, big cities and various types of venues. Those destinations use our CRM, web content management systems, and digital marketing services to attract tourists, conventions, and engage stakeholders. As we continue to advance the power of connected technology and data-driven insights, we seek a dynamic and strategic Senior Director to lead the next chapter of our digital strategy and marketing services for destinations.
 
The Senior Director, Destination Experience, is a strategic executive leader responsible for shaping and delivering transformative digital and experiential strategies for destination customers. This role combines deep expertise in digital marketing, digital experience, and destination strategy to drive business growth, operational excellence, and innovation. The ideal candidate has proven experience in leading a successful digital strategy agency, including responsibilities for revenue growth, capabilities innovation, and personnel leadership. As a member of the Granicus Experience Group leadership team, the role will lead cross-functional initiatives, develop integrated digital and engagement strategies, and serve as a trusted adviser to customers and internal stakeholders. This position requires a blend of strategic vision, hands-on leadership, and a passion for improving the visitor — and resident — experience through data-driven insights and digital transformation.
 
A key capability for the team includes connecting traditional search engine optimization (SEO) strategies with emerging AI optimization techniques. The successful candidate will be forward-thinking in defining new metrics that matter in a landscape increasingly shaped by zero-click AI-powered search results, ensuring destination content remains discoverable, engaging, and impactful.
 
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
 
Strategic Leadership & Business Development
 
- Define and execute a clear vision for destination digital experience strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Serve as a thought leader and strategic partner to customers, influencing executive-level decision-making.
- Lead business development efforts, including go-to-market strategies, customer pitches, and proposal development.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and customer engagements.
- Partner with GXG leadership, GTM, Product, and Customer Success teams to expand market share and revenue.
- Develop new offerings based on industry trends, client feedback, and emerging technologies.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring high satisfaction and retention.
 
Digital Strategy & Capabilities Development
 
- Lead the creation and execution of multi-channel digital engagement strategies across web, mobile, email, social, and paid media.
- Translate customer insights into actionable digital strategies, including personas, customer journeys, and messaging frameworks.
- Partner with Product leadership to leverage customer insights to inform product roadmap priorities.
- Oversee the integration of digital tools, CRM systems, and analytics platforms to optimize client outcomes.
- Stay current with digital trends and technologies, applying them to enhance customer strategies.
- Drive innovation in digital content, campaign execution, and multichannel experience design.
- Connect SEO strategies with AI optimization approaches to ensure visibility and relevance in evolving search environments.
- Develop and advocate for new performance metrics that reflect the realities of zero-click AI search results and conversational interfaces.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver cohesive and impactful digital programs.

You Will Love This Job If You Have

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in destination marketing, travel, hospitality, digital strategy, or consulting.
• Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and client relationships.
• 5+ years of experience engaging with C-Suite leaders to drive strategic initiatives.
• Deep expertise in digital marketing channels including SEO, PPC, display, mobile, email, and social media.
• Strong understanding of CRM systems, forecasting models, and analytics platforms.
• Experience with leisure, tourism, and event marketing for destinations preferred.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and project management capabilities.
• Ability to travel 25–50% for customer meetings, industry events, and speaking engagements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Range

USD $150,000.00 - USD $175,000.00 /Yr.
